I think a lot of terms from statistics have entered general corporate jargon because people think it makes them sound sharp.
I've often found that when my business stakeholders ask about "correlation", they really mean "is there a pattern or relationship?" and when they say "statistically significant" they mean is this pattern, relationship, or difference "meaningful" or "of magnitude" , etc.
What they actually mean to say is "hey Kris, can you poke around in the data and lmk what you find?"
